THE RIVER STREET ANTHOLOGY
Created and curated by Michigan-native songwriter and historian Matt Jones, The River Street Anthology is creating a map in real time of the Michigan musical landscape. The RSA has traveled thousands of miles, recording over 300 Michigan musicians via digital tape, film, photograph and fine art. The project seeks to collect, preserve, and make accessible music covering the gamut of genres, cultures, ages, and genders of Michigan music. All materials collected by the RSA will be housed and preserved in the Archives of Michigan in Lansing in perpetuity.
Every time I shoot for the RSA, whether it's a listening party or a recording session, I am profoundly touched and inspired by all of the amazingly talented humans who take part. The way that it brings community together is fulfilling and truly a gift to behold. Below you’ll find a sample of the photos I have taken since I joined the team in 2015. The rest will be available on the website being created by the State of Michigan.
